Uses of Balcony in Stage Performances

Balconies add sophistication and design to homes. Aside from that, these are places where you can relax and do a lot of other activities such as reading, exercising, and gardening. However, verandas are not limited for home use only because they are also utilised in the field of entertainment.

For one, balconies are used as venues for stage performances. Before, public performances were common, so the entertainment staff utilised concrete balconies where performers did their acting. Using terraces in stage performances depict that the setting really took place in a balcony. Now, artificial or movable ones are used in the stage and are taken out by props men whenever they are no longer necessary.

Aside from being props in the stage, balconies are also an important part in theatres. They are the part of the auditoriums (generally situated in the rear) wherein you can find one or more raised seating platforms. In big theatres, there are often multiple levels of balconies to be found while in opera houses, the seats are high and far away from the stage. The balconies that we are talking about here are more useful for the audience rather than the performers who do the acting only at the stage.

There are also other times wherein verandas are used for ceremonial purposes. For instance, in banquet halls, balconies are places where musicians deliver their piece. In old churches, the choirs often sing from the terraces. All in all, balconies have seen quite a massive use in the entertainment industry.
