Preparing Your Home Before Travelling
Certainly, there are a number of things that you have to look into when you are planning to go on a trip. There is packing your luggage, booking tours and accommodation, and informing your credit card provider that you wish to use your plastic abroad. Besides those, there is also the matter of ensuring that your house will be kept in good condition from when you leave until you return. Now there are plenty of things that you can do for this purpose and these include:
- Getting in touch with the right establishment to request to have newspaper and mail deliveries temporarily stopped. Then, simply collect the accumulated letters at your local branch or have it all sent to your residence when you get back. Of course, asking a neighbour whom you trust to retrieve them for you can also be an option.
- Having a general clean up at least three days before your departure. Mop your floors, vacuum your carpet, wash your laundry, finish up the food in your refrigerator, water the plants, and remove all bedding to allow the mattress the air out. Remember to also get your garbage bins cleared out and store them in your garage or any other place where they will be unseen.
- Hiring only a specialist to deal with the fabrication and installation of new balconies, ventilation, insulation, and roof windows for the duration of your journey. This is so that you will be assured of getting quality work even when you are not around to supervise the project. Do not forget to have a close family member or friend drop by to oversee the job so that you can be kept up to date with the progress.
As a final note of advice, have photo-cell connectors or timers set up for your outdoor lights and check the batteries of your alarm systems. Once you have all of that taken care of, all you need to do is just wait for the day of your flight, cruise, or train ride and head out for some fun.
